Tourism
Between 2000 and 2005 the average growth in the tourism sector is 8,6%. Tourism in 2005 has increased 35% compared to 2004. More than 50% of tourism comes from the Asian countries and Pacific Ocean States (Australia…), while 25% come from Europe which keeps the balance between frequent tourism for short periods and tourism less frequent but for longer periods. The following table indicates the evolution of income in the tourism sector with the average spending by tourist.
 

For the first 7 months of 2007, the number of international visitors in Cambodia reached a total of 1.118.659 which represents an increase of 19,46% compared to the same period in 2006.and strives to reach 2 millions visitors at the end of 2007 The temples of Angkor attracted 60,65% of these visitors while Phnom Penh and the other destinations shared 39,35%.
 
South Korea maintains its leader position with 19,79% and Japan keeps its 2nd position with 18,79%. The United States arrives 3rd with 7,50% which represents an increase of 14,59% compared to 2006. The other countries are declined as follows: Taiwan 70,998 (+71.31%); Vietnam 70,688 (+65.41%); China 65,628 (+54.74%); Thailand 53,238 (+30.14%); France 49,056 (+26.59%); The United Kingdom 48,746 (+23.37%); Malaysia 47,182 (+11.01%).
